You are invited to finish out the fashion year with a fabulous panel discussion on “Starting and scaling a Specialty Fashion Business” with creative entrepreneur and star stylist Janet Mandell, fashion lawyer Daliah Saper, and moderated by The Curio’s Maggie Gillette.
In addition to a spirited discussion, Janet will also do a styling demonstration just in time to plan your holiday party outfits and she will be collaborating with content creators Amy Anderson and Meiling Jin.
The panel will be followed by a lively-after party at the buzzy Selva on the 7th floor of The Emily Hotel.

Janet Mandell:
Janet Mandell was born with fashion in her blood. She didn’t attend fashion or design school and her expertise is entirely self-made. Her love of fashion led to the creation of our fashion universe and that’s where our story begins.
Janet believes fashion is not about making a statement, but encourages others to take risks with colors, textures and express their own sense of style. Fashion should never be judgmental but instead an outlet with which to create your own version of art. After years of doing exactly that, she decided to take a leap of faith and start JANET MANDELL, a curated fashion rental house. The curated high-fashion rental showroom combines the best of both worlds, fashion and sustainability. Her vision and business journeys led her to believe this was a risk worth taking even in an emerging market. After a year of success, she decided to rename ByFashionaholic to Janet Mandell, fully embodying her dream. She opened JANET MANDELL CHICAGO (flagship location) in 2018 and then branched out to LOS ANGELES in late 2019 with NYC in the works for 2023. In Chicago her flagship is now located at 900 N. Michigan Shops (6th floor).
Daliah Saper:
Daliah Saper is a member of the Illinois Bar and both the General Bar and Trial Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She has handled many high profile cases include those before the Illinois Supreme Court) and is regularly interviewed on national tv, radio, and in several publications including Fox News, CNBC, ABC News, The Chicago Tribune, WGN Radio, and NPR. Of many achieveents, Daliah was named to Crain’s Chicago‘s 2017 list “60 Most Influential Women Lawyers”which highlighted her “cutting-edge” internet and social media practice and Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s 2012 list “40 Attorneys Under 40.” Daliah is an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, teaching Sports and Entertainment Law. Maggie Gillette (Moderator):
Maggie Gillette is a fashion industry professional and freelance writer. After a successful career in fashion and events in New York, Maggie has returned to Chicago, becoming a Principal at The Curio. When she’s not working, Maggie loves exploring with her toddler, cooking for her family, and curling up with a good book at the end of the day. You can find her on IG: @themaggiegillette.
