FGI Sustainability in Fashion Panel Discussion

  • North Shore Exchange 900 North Michigan Avenue, 4th Level Chicago, IL, 60611 United States (map)

Tickets Here: $15 Members / $20 Non-Members

Join us as we discuss the topic of sustainability in fashion from various perspectives in the industry.

The sad truth of the matter is the fashion industry is one of the most wasteful industries (85% of garments end up in landfills) but also one of the top pollutants in the world (about 10% of global carbon emissions). Consumers worldwide are starting to take a stand against the devastating effects of fast fashion and quickly fading trends and as a result, independent designers as well as mass producers are listening.

Due to the recent pandemic, re-sale of online retailers has gained tremendous popularity along with the increase of consignment stores. Designers are also finding ways to incorporate sustainable fabrics, using local/domestic manufacturing sources, focusing on fair trade, and providing transparency up and down the supply chain.

We are excited to have with us Jamie Hayes from Production Mode and Asra Ali from DCxAsra who will share their insight on sustainability and how they are making an impact on the fashion industry. Bhavana Jain, CEO and Lead Designer of BHAV will moderate the live panel discussion.

This event will be held at the North Shore Exchange (NSE) boutique located at the 900 shops on the Magnificent Mile. NSE is a non-profit organization that primarily supports Chicago-land charities which serves families living in poverty through a unique combination of luxury consignment, designer shopping, and volunteerism. We are grateful to collaborate with them on this unique and educational event.
