The design collective we are Material includes Anna Brown, Gillion Carrara, and Andrea Reynders. Since Anna Brown is unavailable for this occasion, Takara Beatheagudell is a special guest designer.

This collective of women fashion designers is committed to a modern practice and fostering a meaningful dialogue with local audiences. They offer curated experiences that redefine the relationship between designer and consumer by shifting the consumer back toward the traditional role of patron.

Join us for a three-day event starting with the opening reception on Friday, with live music and refreshments. This will be followed by two days on April 15 and 16 from 12-5 where you will have the additional opportunity to meet and greet the artists in a more intimate one-on-one setting.

we are MATERIAL brings together a diverse group of designers and artisans who design, create, and manufacture locally. It is a rare chance to meet and interact with Andrea Reynders and Gillion Carrara, the founders of this collective, and guest designer Takara Beatheagudell.

Featured Designers:

Andrea Reynders creates timeless, classic yet modern designs that are perfect for any age group. Her garment designs are meant to simplify life with easily enjoyable clothing. She is also a fashion designer/consultant with a broad engagement in a range of fashion-related endeavors.

Takara Beatheagudell, a self-taught artist from the Virgin Islands, creates whimsical and bold art jewelry influenced by her roots. Her architectural approach and fascination with puzzles, marionettes, and moving parts result in clean lines that leave room for imagination. The unique designs of Takara have been showcased in museums and galleries that celebrate contemporary and outsider art.

Gillion Carrara, a Chicago-based artisan and designer, is passionate about exploring the relationship between materials, function, and fabrication. Her handcrafted cuffs, earrings, necklaces, and objects are sensual and tactile and have earned her a following among collectors around the world.

Do not miss this opportunity to interact with these talented designers and artisans.
