Autumn fashion had barely emerged in the Windy City as the “Electro NextGen Fashion Show” commenced on the evening of Saturday, August 26, 2023. This avant-garde extravaganza was characterized by its eccentric and futuristic designs and showcased the immense potential of fashion when paired with cutting-edge technology.  

The event was hosted by Tony P and Done by Design along with the groundbreaking technology startup Trendsapio handling the casting calls and held at Lucid Air Motors, an American manufacturer of electric luxury sports cars and a newfound hub forinnovation in Chicago’s fashion industry.

A Glimpse into Trendsapio's Innovative Journey

Trendsapio was founded in 2020 by Harman Sehgal, the tech disruptor at the heart of this electromagnetic event. Since then, Sehgal and his team have set out to connect diverse talent from creative industries with brands that need fresh ideas. ·

This Chicago-based startup quickly gained recognition for its pioneering work in leveraging AI and machine learning to predict fashion trends, optimize supply chains, and enhance the customer experience. Trendsapio's unique approach to blending technology and fashion has captured the attention of fashion aficionados and industry leaders alike, earning it a reputation as a game-changer in the world of style.

Electro NextGen Fashion Show: Where Avant-Garde Meets the Future

Parker Normal: Known for his alternative approach to emotion and boundary-pushing designs, Parker Normal wowed the audience with his innovative use of 3D-printed textiles and LED lighting embedded in monochromatic statement pieces. Normal created garments that seemed to defy gravity and, according to his own words following the collection, “transpire antagonism.”

Cataldo Couture By Catherine Cataldo: Catherine’s debut womenswear line focused on female empowerment and adding confidence to the American woman’s everyday wardrobe. The collection embraced a bold fusion of metallic fabrics and classic feminine silhouettes, captivating the audience with their otherworldly glow. 

HOACHEN Design by Jerry Song: This designer’s creations played with the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine through different fabrics and silhouettes. The standouts from this collection were the beautifully tailored pieces and the subtle embroidered details.

Karmic Couture by Raj Patel: Raj Patel blended traditional craftsmanship with a futuristic twist. His designs featured a wide array of intricate hand embroidery combined with augmented reality elements, providing a unique experience for onlookers.  After the runway, Patel attributed his robust collection’s inspiration to his time doing costume design in Bollywood.

Chicago's Fashion Industry Embracing Innovation

The Electro NextGen Fashion Show by Trendsapio served as a testament to Chicago's growing status as a fashion tech powerhouse.
