Style Takeaways @ Men’s Fashion Awards

The Men’s Fashion Awards hosted by The Costume Council was a success with all dressed to impress, so how can one apply similar looks to their own style?

We ranked the best fashion moments of the night and turned them into the "rules of the runway" for our Chicagoan couture connoisseurs.

Catch up on the top trends below & incorporate them into your everyday wardrobe this season!

1. To lead in luxury, layer in leather.

Hospitality Group CEO Sam Sanchez and Pam Santoro Capitanini match effortlessly in smooth leather.

Pair it with other luxe textures like cashmere; leather is a perfect layering tool for the cooler season!

2. Exude eminence with equestrian embellishments

David Murga sported a khaki blazer paired with sharp grey slacks, but we're obsessed with his Western hat and clasp!

The hues of umber and ocher add warmth and a rustic appeal to an otherwise cool-toned palette & offer an equestrian touch to the look.

3. Go green!

(or emerald ...olive...chartreuse… peridot...)

We are green with envy at the endless shades strutted down the runaway as winners were announced. Sustainably sourced or not, we all can agree that green garments are a striking staple that can be recycled and reworn this autumn.

Carmen Rossi's escort, Jennifer Massarelli, wears an evening gown in a hue of shimmery seafoam

Italian Designer and Il Fratellino Founder Zak Rodrigues' mother Yolanda "Dusty" Stemer shimmers in a chartreuse pleated silk skirt.

Meanwhile, Zak himself models an olive velvet blazer, matching colored skinny jeans, and muted shade of army green platform combat boots- très eleganté!

4. Prints are Paradise.

Nominee D'Ontace Keyes deuces with dapper swagger while wearing a polka dot print outfit, and his escort Amanda Bonnell wears thigh-high suede boots with a colorful geometric print dress.

Contrary to some of the other couples who went with a more coordinated look, the conscious clash comes off as cool and carefree, and therefore, it just goes!

...and pair peace signs with polka dots.

5. Provide pops of potency (preferably pink, please)

Last, but not least, award nominee Frank Rubel brings us bright pops of color with a punchy purse and neon sneakers.

This season, neon hues are all the rage and provide the perfect continuity to tie a simple look together.

And, we can’t forget two fashion org leaders…

Ian Gerard, CURIO Founder & NYC renowned Fashion Entrepreneur, pictured with Maggie M. Morgan, President of the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum.

Maggie wears a cheetah print blazer, a vintage piece from Dior. Ian wears a military-style jacket and pants from John Varvatos.
