Adreain Guillory
Adreain Guillory (Ajovang) was a featured designer in our fashion show, A Celebration of Chicago Style. Learn more about the show here.
Adreain is a young African American Demi-Couture Designer from Michigan. Adreain draws his inspiration from childhood fairy tales, the eighteenth century, and classical art movements. The memories from his adolescent years feed his creativity and consistently provoke a sense of romanticism and elegance in his work. By exploring the past, present, and future, he cultivates volume and shape as a form of cultural resistance with couture, expanding the vast space between the representation and the real. He creatively shares the Black experience through his fantasy lens in the hopes it will normalize the inclusion of POC in couture. Showing younger POC that our dreams can become our reality too.
Adreain is a 2019 SAIC fashion graduate who was a Driehaus Fashion Award recipient, launched his evening collection in 2021 and by 2022 had already been selected to participate in the Black in Fashion Council Discovery Showroom at New York Fashion Week. His pieces have been covered in Vogue, WWD, Fashionista and WGN TV.
